Downtown Bridge
April, 2008 - After months of community input, design team members for the
Ohio River Bridges Project unveiled the recommended aesthetic design elements for
the new Downtown Bridge. The recommendations were presented to the public at April
open houses in Jeffersonville and Louisville.

April 2008 - Get involved! Attend one of two Public Open Houses for the bi-state
community to get an in-depth look at the aesthetic elements and architectural treatments
that have been developed and recommended in coordination with the Downtown Bridge
Historic Preservation and Area Advisory Teams.
During the Open Houses, the public can view detailed aesthetic elements including
recommendations for the bridge theme, color, texture and lighting. The Bridge Design
Team will be available to meet one-on-one with the public and gather input on the
recommended design elements.

September 2007 - The dialogue that helped produce two bridge types in Dec. 2006 was renewed in mid-August 2007 when Bridges Project engineers and officials met with two key stakeholder groups. Engineers from the Downtown and East End Bridge design teams reconvened their respective area advisory teams (AAT) to discuss bridge design aspects that will lend character and establish presence. January 2007 --The communities of Southern Indiana and Louisville will have a special treat at two local universities over the next few months. Indiana University Southeast and the University of Louisville will be hosts to the Ohio River Bridges Project’s models of the new Ohio River bridges.
