Historic Properties For Sale

The Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the Louisville-Southern Indiana Ohio River Bridges Project calls for numerous efforts to preserve and enhance historic properties. Three such properties are currently for public sale by sealed bid. Each property is described below along with links to important files. The Drumanard Estate

The Drumanard property is being offered for public sale by sealed bid with a bid opening date of Thursday, October 12, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. An open house will be held on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

6401 Wolf Pen Branch Road – Prospect, KY

This 53-acre estate had much of its overall landscaping planned by the Olmsted Brothers from 1904-1905. The primary residence has more than 10,000 square feet. Out buildings include a guest cottage, gardener’s cottage, greenhouse and gazebo.

Rosewell

The Rosewell property is being offered for public sale by sealed bid with a bid opening date of Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. An open house will be held on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

6900 Transylvania Avenue – Prospect, KY

Nestled on more than five acres near the banks of the Ohio River, the original structure of Rosewell was built in the 1820s with a limestone addition in 1854, giving the home historical significance. More additions were built over the years to create a mansion with more than 7,000 square feet.

Grocers Ice & Cold Storage

609 East Main Street – Louisville, KY

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) is offering for sale the Grocers Ice & Cold Storage Company Building, located at 609 East Main Street in Louisville, Kentucky.  Located one block from Slugger Field and adjacent to Louisville’s trendy and burgeoning NuLu District, Grocers Ice has 44,628 square feet of interior space. The facade, which must be maintained, has been described as reminiscent of Frank Lloyd Wright’s early designs for similar block-like structures. Built in 1906 with additions around 1920 and 1952, Grocers Ice was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.
